Niobe has the Power
Niobe has… the POWER!
One of our many goals this year is to get more interactive on the interwebs. I think our team is so used to being social in the real live world of comic conventions and book festivals, turning our attention to the online realm is a new adventure. But as the wise #NioBAE tribe once reminded me in Baltimore, it is all about the journey.
This message is a brief and general one, as there will be more material coming on the website, including prose pieces and indulgent poems I’m going to regale you with, cool art from Darrell’s sketch books, general Stranger Comics updates from Cooper and more! We are going to be doing Zoom lessons and live feeds where we aim to bring that same love and energy we brought to conventions. More on that soon.
FOR THE CULTURE:
There are going to be a lot more YouTube videos on our channel, which will feature interviews, art clips, and writer tips. There is more to it, with a new edition to the team who you may have met at a convention, but I can’t share all our secret surprises just yet. All I ask is to hit SUBSCRIBE on our YouTube channel to stay in touch.
Here are two videos. The first has just been posted with the #Niobe cosplay queens who came together to create their version of the Don’t Rush Challenge but with a twist. We went old school, paying homage to Digable Planets with their classic Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat). We called it Niobe Be Like Dat:
The next video is one we made to coincide with the release of our comic homages to A Tribe Called Quest and their albums Midnight Marauders and The Low End Theory. I am a huge fan of both ATCQ and also of iconic singer Minnie Riperton. Hope you like:
FUN FACT! The cool thing – @candyloveslocs from IG is the Niobe model in the Tribe video and on the comic covers (she is also the editor on the Niobe Be Like That video). Her kiddo Willow is the Niobe model for our Glorious Niobe Limited Edition homage to Biggie Smalls, which sneaks in at the end of the Niobe Be Like Dat video.
