Hello Stranger!
Happy Thursday! With Halloween approaching it has got me thinking of this week’s theme: Fear. I think I have wrestled with this concept my whole life. I have a very vivid imagination, which still often gets the better of me, so I still get nightmares lol especially after a scary movie. So… can I overcome this and other forms of fear, from dealing with anxieties of adult responsibilities like running a business or worrying over my son? I create scenarios in my head. When I was younger it was usually over asking a girl out, or not backing down from a fight. What would happen if I didn’t go through with something… I needed the anxious feeling to go away, so I would have to deal with whatever it was. I don’t think any of that made me brave, it was a coping mechanism – fight or flight – against whatever demon that would tell me I was a coward if I didn’t, and this demon was taking up rent free space in my head! Now, with time, perspective has come, and I have learned to shut that other voice up. How? With John and Alice Coltrane, morning rituals and doing my best to enjoy all things present. Sleeping! And doing my best to breathe, and focus on what’s happening in the real world and not the one imagined. The living vs the undead ;)
So…speaking off, what is your favorite scary movie? The ones I remember most include the Dracula movies with Christopher Lee, (I used to imagine having debates with him on whether or not he should eat me lol) and an American Werewolf in London… also this:
