Silver dishes and polished black marble. Even lakes and streams. It was a reminder that her reflection was gone; it had been that way for centuries.
Essessa wondered if this was curse or a blessing? Could vampires not face themselves, for what they had lost. For their sins?
For although she was as beautiful as her youthful days, she could not see it. Time had worn lines not onto her face. Time had gouged her soul. There were consequences for having a conscience. And dark and lovely, and terrible memories that lasted an immortal lifetime.
She would find artists. Painters and poets that would capture her essence and spirit. And of course, her power, and her beauty. So, we all may remember her legend. And if they didn’t do as such, they could be turned or tasted and eaten.

These all-too-human traits we can relate to, as we navigate the complexities of relationships with friends, family, and lovers. But also with faith in a higher power—and ultimately ourselves.
