WARRIOR WEDNESDAYS

Stranger Comics is excited to announce a super fun hero team up with Black Women in Costume (BWIC). BWIC is a social media platform that predominantly highlights black women of all ages and backgrounds dressing up (and more) in costume and cosplay. Each week both Stranger and BWIC will celebrate the warrior spirit within black women with “Warrior Wednesdays.” A cosplayer or someone that dresses up as a warrior will be showcased (posted) on both company’s platforms.

CEO of Black Women in Costume, Jazmin Butler had this to say: “We are excited to share powerful imagery of black women as not only warriors, but the heroes they are. Partnering with Stranger Comics feels like a natural fit as the face of their franchise is the warrior queen Niobe Ayutami.”

Stranger Comics President Sebastian Jones added: “We’ve gone to countless conventions over the years, and it has been wonderful to see black women of all backgrounds cosplaying their favorite characters. We love what Jazmin is doing at Black Women in Costume and how she represents the cosplayer community so well! We are honored to be a part of this journey.”

Both Stranger Comics and Black Women in Costume recently shared the video for some of the Niobe cosplayers for a don’t rush challenge with a twist titled: “Niobe Be Like That.” The musical backdrop this time was The Rebirth of Slick (Cool like Dat) by Digable Planets, which earned some love (and a twitter follow) from member Doodlebug!
